Africa CDC Appoints Yemi Osinbajo as Senior Strategic Adviser

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has named former Nigerian Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo as Senior Strategic Adviser to its Director General. This appointment aims to strengthen Africa’s health systems and advance self-reliance on the continent. In a recent statement, DG Dr John Kaseya described the move as timely, highlighting Prof Osinbajo’s leadership at a critical moment for Africa’s health sector. The new role will support the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty Agenda and reinforce Africa’s voice in global health governance. Prof Osinbajo, a law professor and policy expert, served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 2015 to 2023. He brings extensive experience in governance, reform and international engagement to the Africa CDC team.
