A letter dated May 11, 2026, signed by chairman John Obuh cited insubordination, noting that the coaching staff ignored lineup directives in crucial league and Cup matches. Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu and his assistants have been appointed to manage the team until investigations conclude. The suspended officials have been asked to cooperate fully.
