I recently read a front-page report about a burial in Abia State and it got me thinking. Is the South East gradually becoming a region of cemeteries? When my cousin traveled from Calabar to Umuezeinyi for a friend’s burial, all he saw were empty buildings and graves. Many compounds showed no signs of life. Could soaring bride prices and expensive funeral rites be pushing our youth abroad in search of money? Let’s discuss this growing concern.
