Ayotunde Omitogun Wins $10,000 Rino Aldrighetti Leadership Award for PH Advocacy

Ayotunde Omitogun Wins $10,000 Rino Aldrighetti Leadership Award for PH Advocacy

Ayotunde Omitogun has been named the 2026 Rino Aldrighetti Leadership Award winner by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. She received a $10,000 grant for her outstanding contributions to the PH community. Diagnosed in 2013, she found support in the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and turned her experience into action. She founded Nigeria’s first patient-led PH group to build support networks and improve access to care. Her Cardiac Community Advocacy and Support Initiative launched a drug aid program for low-income patients and runs national awareness events like Lagos’ Walk4PH. She also collaborates internationally to advocate for better diagnostics and affordable treatment across Africa. Her leadership has amplified the voices of PH patients in Nigeria and beyond. This recognition highlights the impact of patient-driven advocacy on a global stage.

It's impressive she won that leadership award, but I wonder if the ten thousand dollars will reach grassroots patient support.

Winning awards is great, but does it really translate to better daily care for PH patients here?

Local support groups could use part of that grant to improve awareness and early screening programs for at-risk communities.
