Super Eagles Retain 26th Place in Latest FIFA Rankings

Super Eagles Retain 26th Place in Latest FIFA Rankings

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have held onto 26th position in the newest FIFA men’s world rankings, according to Complete Sports. The update, published on FIFA’s official platform, follows two March friendlies played in Antalya, Turkey. Under coach Eric Chelle, the team secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Iran’s Team Melli before settling for a 2-2 draw with Jordan’s Al-Nashama. On the continental table, Nigeria remains third in Africa behind Morocco (8th globally) and Senegal (14th). France has reclaimed the top global ranking from Spain. FIFA will release its next men’s world rankings on 10 June 2026.

Do we really know if their defensive lapses cost them most points, or should we focus on attack instead?

True, with sharper attack and tighter defence, those Eagles fit to soar into the top 20 soon.

It's interesting they stayed at 26th despite two March friendlies in Antalya. Maybe those matches didn't offer the challenge needed for a ranking boost.

Holding rank 26 feels underwhelming, but perhaps maintaining consistency can be more valuable than fluctuating wildly.

Focusing on stronger opponents in upcoming friendlies could help improve their points and momentum heading into competitive fixtures.
