Ganduje Confident APC Will Defeat Kwankwaso in Kano with Governor Yusuf’s Support
Abdullahi Ganduje says the APC is poised to defeat Rabiu Kwankwaso in Kano state. He spoke in a recent BBC Hausa interview, calling Kano a critical stronghold ahead of the 2027 elections. Ganduje argued that Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection to the APC strengthens their chances. He described Kwankwaso’s influence as waning and warned that internal rivalry in the African Democratic Congress will weaken their campaign. Highlighting the APC’s national growth, he noted no party in Nigeria has ever held 32 state governorships at once. He said governors are joining because they believe in progress at the federal level. Reflecting on the 2023 Kano election, Ganduje said the party accepted the Supreme Court’s verdict despite earlier court wins. He added that the APC is rebuilding its structure, insisting there is no personal rift with former candidate Nasiru Gawuna and dismissing any strong alliance between Gawuna and Kwankwaso.
