Desabre Praises Leopards’ Fightback in 3-1 Victory over Uzbekistan
DR Congo coach Sebastian Desabre applauded his team’s character after they overturned a one-goal deficit to beat Uzbekistan 3-1 in their World Cup 2026 qualifier at Atlanta Stadium. Eldor Shomurodov had given Uzbekistan the lead in the 10th minute. Yoane Wissa levelled from the penalty spot in the 68th minute. Ten minutes later, substitute Fiston Mayele capitalised on a deflection to put the Leopards ahead. Wissa then sealed the win with a fine finish in injury time. Desabre praised the players for their determination. “We know how to respond when we concede. The team showed great attacking intent and everybody played their part,” he said. The coach also commended his staff for the support. DR Congo now prepares to face England in the Round of 32 in Atlanta on July 1.
