Ogun Launches Pharma-Grade Warehouse to Strengthen Medicine Supply

Ogun Launches Pharma-Grade Warehouse to Strengthen Medicine Supply

Governor Dapo Abiodun has officially commissioned the new Pharma-Grade Central Warehouse in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He described the facility as a strategic investment that will improve storage, management and distribution of essential medicines and health commodities across all 20 local government areas of the state. Abiodun praised the Global Fund’s continued support since 2003 and highlighted that this public-private partnership delivers tangible outcomes for HIV, tuberculosis and malaria interventions. The Governor urged residents to embrace preventive healthcare practices, participate in screening programmes and enrol in the state health insurance scheme to maximise these investments. Health Commissioner Tomi Coker noted that the warehouse meets international pharmaceutical storage standards and will reduce stock-outs. Representatives from the Global Fund and UNICEF also commended Ogun State’s leadership and governance in advancing healthcare delivery for over 7.5 million residents.

Is investing in a central warehouse enough when roads and cold chain logistics still face delays in the region?

We could track monthly stock reports and involve local clinics in regular checks to ensure medicines aren't stuck at the warehouse.
