Anambra Health Commissioner Praises Enugwu-Ukwu Hospital’s Life-Saving Blood Bank
The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, has applauded the management of Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital for maintaining a fully functional blood bank that continues to save lives. He made the remarks during the World Blood Donor Day celebration organised by the State Medical Support Services with the Medical Laboratory Department. Dr. Obidike highlighted how the facility provided blood for accident victims in recent months, a gesture that helped save lives. The commissioner urged Nigerians to embrace voluntary blood donation to ensure adequate supplies during emergencies. He also encouraged the hospital to keep a donor register for easy follow-up and commended regular donors for their generosity. Hospital leaders and medical staff echoed these sentiments. They stressed proper screening of all donated blood and praised health workers’ unity in observing World Blood Donor Day to maintain safe and sufficient blood supply.
