Enugu Lawyers Seal Obollo-Afor High Court to Protest Judges’ Remote Sittings
Lawyers in Enugu North senatorial district sealed the Obollo-Afor High Court on June 16. They took this step to protest the persistent absence of judges from physical court proceedings and the shift to virtual sittings. The legal teams say that insecurity in the area has been used to justify remote hearings, leaving courtrooms abandoned for years. Earlier, on June 3, they marched through major streets in Nsukka to demand that judges return to the bench. Their actions have impacted all five judicial divisions in the zone: Nsukka, Obollo-Afor, Enugu-Ezike, Ogbede and Umulokpa. The lawyers insist that physical adjudication must resume across the district.
